KORE 307 STUDY OF MODERN DRAMATIST 〔3〕
This course aims to give an introduction to analytic listening and speech sounds identification(ear training), symbolic transcription using IPA, and production and perception of speech sounds. Students learn about a variety of sounds found in the world languages and practice to pronounce them. This course helps students to improve their pronunciation of foreign languages.

Understanding the roots of Korean literary criticism through reading critical records written before the 19th century.
KORE 317 KOREAN LANGUAGE EDUCATION AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE 〔3〕
We will look at Korean from the perspective of a non-native speaker and examine its usage to discover similarities and differences from other languages. This will help students study the basic concepts, principles, and methods of Korean language education as a foreign language.
KORE 318 BASIC MATERIALS IN MOERN KOREAN LITERATURE 〔3〕
This class will help students improve their analytic skills of literary works by carefully reading Korean modern literary works.
KORE 319 INTRODUCTION TO KOREAN DIALECTS 〔3〕
We will examine principles and concepts of dialects and use these to help understand the characteristics of Korean regional dialects. We will also look at social dialects, linguistic diaspora, and so called standard language.
KORE 320 KOREAN LINGUISTICS IN NORTH KOREA 〔3〕
We will strive to understand language norms of North Korea (vocabulary, writing) and search for paths to unification through language normalization (vocabulary and writing). We will also examine current trends of Korean language research dealing with North Korea.

Students will gain an understanding of and find academic meaning for research results on various topics by choosing and examining important Korean language research results.

KORE 418 READINGS IN MATERIALS IN DIACHRONIC KOREAN LINGUISTICS 〔3〕
Through reading important literature on the history of Korean language, students will gain a knowledge of Korean language and writing method from the time of the creation of Hunminjeongeum and an understanding of the later changes.
KORE 420 PHONOLOGY OF KOREAN LANGUAGE 〔3〕
We will study the production of voice, conveyance, and the process of understanding and use this knowledge to discover the characteristics of articulation and acoustics of Korean language through scientific methodologies.
KORE 425 KOREAN MORPHOLOGY 〔3〕
We will examine the use of vocabulary, the base of Korean grammar. We will use this knowledge to discover the organization and meaning of words by studying the organization of words and the process and method of making words.
KORE 426 KOREAN LANGUAGE POLICY 〔3〕
We will examine the totality of Korean language policy and look for ways to improve those policies in order to lead to correct usage of Korean by native speakers and the dissemination of Korean as a second language.
KORE 427 APPLIED KOREAN LINGUISTICS [3]
We will research theories and review and analyze real problems dealing with the usage and application of Korean language which are hard to deal with through purely Korean language research methods.
