Brief History
1940~ 1946. 8 Establishment of Korea University is approved. The Department of Korean Literature is established with a quota of 30 students per year
1950~ 1952. 12 Graduate School of the Department of Korean Literature is established
1954.2 Faculty of Literature in the College of Liberal Arts and Science is established. Affiliation is changed to Department of Korean Literature, Faculty of Literature, College of Liberal Arts and Science
1960~ 1963. 12 The College of Liberal Arts and Science is divided and restructured into the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Science and Engineering. Affiliation is changed to Department of Korean Literature, College of Liberal Arts.
1967 Doctoral Program in the Graduate School of the Department of Korean Literature is established
1968. 12 The Department of Korean Literature is renamed the Department of Korean Language and Literature
1980~ 1986. 11 Admission quota is changed to 143 students based on the implementation of a graduation quota
1988. 10 The Department of Classical Chinese is established
1946. 8 The Department of Linguistics is established
1989 The quota of the Department of Korean Language and Literature is changed to 70 students due to the establishment of the Department of Classical Chinese, the Department of Linguistics, and the implementation of the admission quota system
1990~ 1999 The division system is implemented. Affiliation is changed to Korean Language and Literature Major, Division of Korean and Asian Languages and Literature
2000~ 2001 The college system is broadened. Affiliation is changed to Korean Language and Literature Major, College of Liberal Arts
2004 The college system is adjusted. Affiliation is changed to Department of Korean Language and Literature, Division of Humanities, College of Literal Arts
2006 60th Foundation Anniversary of the Department is celebrated
